Wolcen - Full Release!

Wolcen: Lords of Mayhem is going into full release on Feb 13th, 2020!  I've been following this ARPG since it was first Kickstarted way back in 2015.  I've played it once or twice throughout the development process... Some Alpha, some Beta.  Overall it has come along very nicely, and I have high hopes for the future of this game.  This game has been discussed as once of the top games that will be pit against Diablo IV for the next generation of ARPG's on the market.  I know Cecil and I will be playing for sure.  Come join us in-game and on Discord!

Smite - Free To Play.

Smite is a 3D fantasy MOBA where players take on the role of mythological gods and battle in team-based arenas. Unlike other MOBAs, SMITE puts you directly onto the battlefield with a third-person action viewpoint. From blind-side ambushes to aimed shots, a new pantheon of strategic possibilities awaits.  Become a legend of myth, enter the Battleground of the Gods, and play FREE now!

Game Modes:
Conquest – the main 5v5 game mode. Features three lanes and a jungle area filled with neutral monsters. Arena – a 5v5 game mode with an open battle area rather than lanes. Each team begins with 500 points and must reduce the other side's to zero by killing heroes, minions, and escorting allied minions to portals. Joust – a 3v3 game mode with a single lane which otherwise plays like Conquest mode. Joust can also be played 1v1. Assault – similar to ARAM (All Random, All Mid) in LoL, players are assigned a random God and fight on a map with a single lane. Siege – a faster version of Conquest. Siege mode consists of only two lanes and contains a special Siege Juggernaut minion that deals extra damage to structures.
Never played a battle arena before? Don’t worry. Auto-buy, auto-level, and the deathmatch-like Arena mode let you jump right into divine MOBA action. Aspiring pro? Top the ladders, join a competitive team, and you too could be playing at the SMITE World Championship.

Winter in Wurm, snow covers the ground, my little smithy has grown, I have a house now with a good sized farm and customers. I took great risk in taking this as I was snapping the photo my neighbor was killed by raiders from an enemy kingdom. That is usually sign for me to run inside and bar the doors and wait it out. Sad thing is he was a horse breeder and I was about to make a trade of iron for some horses but I am pretty sure the raiders slaughtered them or stole them. Ah well.

Players.. there are multiple NPC kingdoms that players sign up with. There is also an island where you can create your own kingdoms but I am not brave enough to go over there yet.. I am however on the outskirts of my island with the Jen Khellon kingdom, and we are raided often by Mol-Rehan.

This raid for the first time actually turned out bad for them, they somehow managed to get themselves stuck inside a town called strong box and everyone (newbs and vets alike) banded together and over ran them with numbers and killed them all off.

This game is a lot of fun and really reminds me of UO but without skill caps and territory fighting tends to happen quite a bit. I think my ultimate goal is to raise an army and go take over all of elevation (the island where you create your own kingdoms) they are all interconnected by massive seas that you have to sail across. I have taken my row boat but it took a long time and I was really scared a shark was going to get me.

Please do but I encourage you to contact me when you do. I was turned off by the game the my first 20 minutes because the UI is so darn weird and the game at first appears to be limited. if my buddy had not made me learn the basics I would have turned away (Like Elric did) without giving it a second though. The game is deep and elaborate and requires a little patience at the beginning. It is not an easy game, here is my most recent story.

I was working on building a guard tower between my house and my mine to help me fend off wild beasts and monsters as it was becoming a big problem. My Neighbor heard me laying the bricks and came by and offered to help. Seeing as how the guard tower is the most daunting structure I have ever made I accepted his help. I didn't have a supply of raw stone to make the stone bricks needed but he did. We walked over to his mine but enroute a hell hound jumped us in the forest. He led it away as I was carrying my cart behind me and was moving to slow. He tried to ditch it at the coastline and thought he had but it still had his scent and it surprised him from behind. He was so tired from the retreat that he hadn't the stamina left to engage or run and met an untimely demise. (When dying you return to strongbox about a 25 minute run from our base if you don't get slowed down by monsters or a 10 minute trip by boat) Against my better judgement I offered to pick him up in my rowboat. You see Raiders had been slaughtering the Jen Khellon all day and I didn't want to get that far away from the safety of my home but I felt somewhat responsible for his death seeing as how he was helping me.

So I set out on boat, I didn't get but about 2 minutes away from my shoreline when I saw it, in local the name gblick, I knew this name all to well as he was the ring leader of the raider group that was constantly at our doorstep. I turned and saw him on my flank in a sailboat. I knew he would catch me it was only a matter of time. I turned toward shore and started bantering with him hoping I could at least spare my life long enough for me to get my boat near a coast line, dying at sea will leave your boat to drift away.

I did make it to the coastline and I jumped out of my boat and ran into the woods. I learned several valuable lessons with this encounter.

1. I should have unloaded my gear into my boat before I jumped.

2. Trees don't block arrows (I don't like this but meh)

3. Don't bother running, your dead anyway

So it took 3 shots and I was almost dead, I wasn't wearing any armor and had my back to him so those 2 things = dead really fast. The first hit was too the leg which slowed me down alot. I saw a thorn bush and dove in hoping he wouldn't chase my body out of it for fear of scraping him up. I was so mortally wounded that the bush is actually what ended up killing me which was bitter sweet as I deprived him of the big death announcement to my region.

When I got back I searched for my body but it was gone. I found my rowboat and was able to recapture it, later that evening I was making a run to get some clay on the other coastline across from mine for the guard tower and I found my corpse floating amidst the open water. I picked it up, took it back and burried , burrying myself was really odd but felt the right thing to do, was kind of embarassing having it floating around in open water.

I have stories like this, although not so brutal, every week. That was my first time killed by a raider and I have been playing for 5 weeks. In that time 3 seasons have past. It is a fun detailed game but you have to get through the UI and some odd appearance things. Also the combat isn't the greatest but it works and if you understand it and get good at it you can be a very scary player.

My kids used to play this game.  After reading your stories, I am interested in playing. Finding your floating body and burying it was a nice touch.

Playing right now, it's a hoot.  Game looks great, feels similar to xyson but the look of the town we're creating is MUCH better than the tents/etc. we had in xsyon.

Streets, streetlamps, houses with working doors.....and the farming looks to be one of the better perks for me personally (avid farming sim 2013 fan)

Also, the ground leveling would have Grim doing cartwheels compared to what we went through in xsyon.

left the big cart in the smithy, will run it back to the mine tomorrow when I log in

started building rock walls around future farming areas (mostly to build up masonry so I can finish my home).....we may want to replace all fences with rock walls in the future since they do a better job of keeping chickens/horses than wooden fences.

This sounds amazing.  I tried this game awhile back but ended up running around alone and without purpose of any kind.

Might have to check it out though!
