Administrators Damis Posted October 17, 2013 Administrators Share Posted October 17, 2013 What type of Flight Controls are you folks planning to use with Star Citizen? Currently, I have an old Logitech Flight stick that I pan to replace. Some suggestions: Saitek PRO Flight X-65F Combat Control System http://www.amazon.com/Saitek-Flight-Combat-Control-System/dp/B003BXVIQS/ref=pd_sim_e_27 Thrustmaster T-Flight Hotas X Flight Stick http://www.amazon.com/Thrustmaster-T-Flight-Hotas-Flight-Playstation-3/dp/B001CXYMFS THRUSTMASTER 2960706 JOYSTICK http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16826280020&nm_mc=KNC-GoogleAdwords&cm_mmc=KNC-GoogleAdwords-_-pla-_-PC+Game+Controllers-_-N82E16826280020&gclid=CNeztbqUnroCFWNgMgodYDEADw
Firedancer
http://www.flightsimulatorjoystick.net/ I was never happy with Saitek (didn't last long, bit too small) Thrustmaster has good stuff usually. Good feeling in your hand. good price is the Thrustmaster Hotas X you link also above - http://www.amazon.de/exec/obidos/ASIN/B001CXYMFS/flighsimuljoy-21 but I'm concerned of the two things tied together. you don't have hands free. Not so ergonomic, also it looks too light (should have a heavy base if possible) Definetely the king seems Thrustmaster Hotas Warthog Joystick - http://www.amazon.de/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00371R8P4/flighsimuljoy-21 Not sure on pedals - never had any. Administrators Damis Posted October 17, 2013 Author Administrators Share Posted October 17, 2013 Me likey the Thrustmaster Hotas Warthog, but the cost is a lot of $$$. My current stick is the Logitech Extreme 3D Pro Joystick. It is a decent stick and you can control the yaw with it, so pedals aren't needed. It served me well in SWG:JTL, however, I would like something that is heavier and feels more real. Firedancer
hmm, I always found that one too small for my hand. I'd really recommend going to store and try touch one... try the look and feel.also there's some fit for left-handers if so needed.
Oort
Was thinking Razer xbox controller. I have an old hotas I might try, too, but my desk is getting very crowded.
Andius
Keyboard and mouse. That's how I flew in my 5+ years of Freelancer and I've gotten incredibly efficient at it. Should be even more efficient with a Razor Naga I can map my missiles, mines, etc. to. I just hope fighters in Star Citizen will fly like they did in Freelancer. I'm incredibly good with any game where it's similar (Star Wars Battlefront or Halo) and incredibly bad at games where it's not (Planetside 2 and Dust 514). Aveno
http://www.piengineering.com/xkeys/xk80.php and http://www.kensington.com/kensington/us/us/p/1444/K64325/expert-mouse%C2%AE.aspx With that trackball, I get MUCH finer movement on the crosshairs than any joystick can give you as well as just as good if not better control of the plane/spaceship/ship/gun/anything-else-I've-ever-played-with. The downside is that it has a learning curve similar to EVE online. You hate it at the beginning, then after a couple of weeks with it it's either the greatest thing next to sliced bread or you still hate it and use the ball out of it for an 8 ball on your pool table because you lost your old one last month. And that keypad is fully programmable and can be set up differently for different games though so far I've not run out of buttons and have been able to use the same setup for all games/applications. For me it's an amazing setup. I'm CONSIDERING a joystick alternative if for some reason this does not work well. However, it's been awesome in every application so far including JST and Mechwarrior Online.
theJaeks
I have the Hotas X, keep in mind it does split in 2 for normal desktop usage. it's combined for PS3 usage basically. so far, it feels a little stiff, though I have only used it for an hour or so. Most conversations I've seen on the SC forum have many log time stick users favoring the CH line. Apparently, they make the F16 sticks, and their Combatstick is highly recommended by many. For now, i'm waiting until closer to launch to move beyond the hotas X though.
