ArcheAge Unchained

When the first ArcheAge was released, it was a huge chapter for COTP.  The initial game hype was off the charts, and we had a lot of fun at first... Unfortunately they had some pretty big missteps with the release schedule and some content that was not released as planned (or poorly handled).  A lot of the issues with the game can be attributed to conflicts between the original Korean developer XL Games and the USA publisher Trion Worlds.  Over time the game went F2P and quickly became a Pay2Win game.  Let's just say that the community was unhappy with the direction of the game. 
Enter GamIgo Games!  Last year Gamigo Games purchased Trion Worlds and acquired the ownership rights of ArcheAge.  As a direct result of all the community backlash, they decided to release a completely different version of the game.  By popular demand, ArcheAge Unchained is going to be a completely separate game on its own, and they are eliminating the big P2W problems.  ArcheAge Unchained is being released on October 15th, and it will be a Buy 2 Play model.  You pay the initial game cost up front, and after that there will be no subscriptions or "Premium monthly costs".  The only items for sale in the "cash shop" will be 100% cosmetic, and anything game impacting from the original ArcheAge game was removed.  For example, the game was due to come out the last weekend in September, but Gamigo Games decided to delay the game for more PTS testing.  The big change they were working on was to make all cosmetic items Bound on Pickup / Purchase.  They wanted to avoid anyone buying cosmetic items for RL money and then selling them on the in-game marketplace to earn gold.  Many people in the community saw this as being slightly Pay 2 Win, so it was removed from the game!

Astellia Launching September 28th.

Astellia  is launching officially on September 27, but those who have  pre-ordered the game can start to filter into the game world as early as this afternoon. Players who purchased a Legendary Pack can begin their journey this afternoon, with the game world opening up to everyone through the course of the next seven days.

I like the bear.  More wildlife is definitely a step in the right direction. 

 

As for the minibike, I hope its like Walking Dead where the zombies hear it from far away and all rush towards it.... That way you could run it on one part of a town to call all the zombies over, and then sneak around to the unguarded houses on the other side.

 

Personally, I want them to add more difficulty scaling options.  It seems like they already have it set up where certain zombie types spawn near higher level players (I never saw a Spider zombie until level 15 or 16, for example), but I wish they would do that for spawn rate too.

I'm stoked. I really just want them to fix the crafting bug where you lose everything you are crafting if you die or log. I often have to log for one bug or another and forget that I am crafting.

 They need to make the game get harder as you level up, we can pretty much do anything we want without any fear at this point.

Well, we could remove all rifles and pistols from the server which would make it harder.  Just bows and melee weapons.

Can you change the run/walk setting without resetting the server?

 

 

And on the highway, we can make it two lane, but what fun is that when you can instead go hell bent through the city?

As always we cannot guarantee its compatibility with old saved games. If you experience any problems please reinstall the game and start a brand new game.

  • Added loading information output on startup so users know the game is still loading

Alpha 12 and Development Status

We know you all can’t wait to get your hands on Alpha 12 and we’re working as hard as we can to deliver it to you. We can’t promise a date yet but we can give you a little more info on what’s being worked on. Folks there’s a lot left off of here as the official change-list is over 15 pages long of additions, improvements and fixes.

Minibike

  • Our first vehicle the mini bike is going in and it supports quality range, storage and locking. Its going ot be awesome.

New Right Click Action Menu

  • We have spent a lot of time on a new right click menu that supports actions of take, craft, drop, equip, wear, heal, eat, drink, read, examine, scrap split and we’re working on more its contextual per item so it sorts out only supported actions per items.

Level Loot

  • A full balancing pass has been done on leveled loot and yes you can find rare items at level one.

Gun Attachments

  • Our first version of gun attachments is in and it supports flashlight attachments on all firearms except the blunderbuss. Simply place the gun on the output tray and you’ll see where the flashlight goes.

New ragdoll and block physics

  • We’ve added a new custom ragdoll solution which works great on zombies and animals as well as a new blocks physics so blocks tumble and fall and turn into stone or wood rubble.

Quality System 2.0

  • Crossbows, bows, augers, chainsaws and all clothing now have now have quality ranges and we’re working on giving clothing attributes.

Alternate Ammo

  • We’ve added support for alternate ammo and have added stone tipped, iron tip, steel tip and flaming arrows. We’re working out a design for High Velocity rounds so it could make it into A12 as well.

Bears

  • We’ve added a bear to the game and it’s pretty terrifying almost as fast as a dog but does more damage. Please don’t feed the bears.

New Sky and Weather

  • We’ve added a new sky system that is really stunning as well as a moon that cycles between a partial moon and gets fuller with 7th day moons being full and red in color dubbed “Blood Moons” to coincide with feral zombie seventh night behaviors. We’re also working on a weather system framework that supports rain, snow, dust storms and more if all goes well you could see it and extreme weather survival soon.

New Graphics options

  • We’ve added motion blur, depth of field, dynamic contrast, tone mapping  and a slew of new and old graphics options controls allowing a wide range of flexibility for users to tune the game for the visual look and performance desired.

Just read this, but knew they patched as the loading is a bit more informative instead of thinking it locked up your system.

 

Looking more forward to A12 myself now after reading some of those upcoming changes.
