  • PvP Loot System Coming Online

    Recommended Posts

The first major PvP system is currently being tested on the Dev+server and should be coming out in Release 22 or 23 to the masses.  One of the hottest debated topics in SotA's PvP community has to do with what if any looting will take place.  The Devs made it clear that they were not going to go with the old UO full loot system as that system would be too harsh for other types of players to get involved in if they wanted to try PvP.

They decided to go with a ransom system.  Right now there are three ways to PvP in SotA.

    1) Players can flag themselves as Open PvP which means you can fight anywhere and anytime with other players flagged as Open PvP; even in towns.

2)Guild's can wage war on each other which flags everyone in the guild as PvP to the other guild.

    3) Open PvP zones where anyone who goes into these areas are flagged Open PvP.

Here is a summary of the Ransom Loot system

When a players dies to another player or group of players that does the majority of damage the person who died becomes lootable for 5 mins.  The key info here is that it requires majority damage and not last hit.  For example, if a Open PvPer is fighting a mob and is almost dead another player can not attack him once and get looting rights.  I assume the purpose is to ensure someone is not lurking to kill someone who is almost dead from fighting mobs.

If the corpse is lootable there is a marker that will appear.  If a person who was involved in the kill clicks on the corpse they will get three items

    1) An equitable item from the dead player such as their weapon or a piece of armor

    2) A non equitable item such as reagents, arrows, potions, or harvested resource

    3) The head of the person killed which can be used as a house decoration.

The person who looted the corpse can either give the equitable and non equitable items back to the person or they can elect to ransom them back for a sum of gold set up through the gaming system.

The person who was killed can pay the gold and get the items back or they can allow the person to keep the items.  There is a time limit that the person can pay the ransom before the items are no longer able to be reclaimed.

As more details are released about this system or changed I will keep everyone posted.
