Fractured MMO

Fractured is an open-world fantasy sandbox MMORPG which blends action combat with fully interactive environments, appealing equally to lovers of competitive and cooperative gameplay. Jump right into the fray from day one. Defeat your enemies with skill and wit, not equipment or level. Gather resources, craft, trade and venture into legendary travels as a solitary hero, or start a settlement with your guild and grow it into the next empire. A true sandbox MMORPG, Fractured lets players pursue the gameplay they enjoy, create the type of character they enjoy, and focus on doing what they enjoy.
Fractured Key Features
Unique And Dynamic Setting – Explore the universe of Fractured, which is spread across three planets – Arboreus, Syndesia, and Tartaros. Travel is an important part of the game experience; unlike many traditional MMORPGS, players must find a way to survive as they traverse the worlds. In addition, eclipses, unique PvE events, have a huge impact on the lives of demons and humans. The state of the universe, and even the position of planets, matters!
Race Is More Than Cosmetic – The race you belong to has an actual impact on game mechanics, from the type of society you live in to the ways you can interact with other players. Choose a human and live in – or at odds with – a feudal society. Be a beastman, and live in harmony with nature. Or, choose a demon, and slake your thirst for blood and revenge!
Crafting That Matters – Finding a broadsword in the corpse of a rat sounds a little unlikely? Forget about old RPG clichés and enter a world where every item is crafted by players. Exploit the uneven distribution of resources to get high profits when trading at faraway markets – but make sure you reach your destination alive!
Get Into The Action – You do not need to grind zombies for 80 hours or reach some level limit before you can join your friends on adventures. In Fractured, you can take part in any content from the first day in the game! The Knowledge system offers power and flexibility, allowing players to develop exactly the character they wish to play.
Action Combat Evolved – Fractured melds the combat style you’ve loved in single-player Action RPGs with a complex sandbox universe. Learn to aim, dodge and master over 400 abilities and 40 unique status effects: only your skills and tactics will lead you to victory! The environment is fully interactive, and can be used to give you an edge in your adventures.

Recruitment and Chapter direction

Recommended Posts

I’m curious as to everyone’s thoughts on guild recruitment. Should we begin and what structure should it take? I would like to see a forum post put together. I’d also like to see our leadership structure ironed out. The officers need the ability to react in game and in Discord with some certainty that they are doing the right thing and have the tools to do it. I’m not trying to step on any toes but I’d love to see us have a clear vision for the coming months leading into launch next year.

This is also a discussion I felt we should start having. Guild recruitment and structure can be difficult to hash out without really defining what our guild is. First I will speak as a member, not an officer, so take this bit as personal opinion.

I would love for us to define a lore-friendly context within the game. Being that the game lore very explicitly includes Outlanders from modern time, this becomes fairly flexible. The challenge, I feel, is more in part to unified purpose. Why exactly have we come together under one banner? What goals do we share? How do we enable one another and work together? What specific appeal does this provide that another guild may lack?

I personally adore the idea of trying to focus in on a settlement and trying to make it a noteworthy and famed settlement in the game. Sadly, much of what helps with this gets locked behind paywalls with settlement size and item limits. Findupre is certainly larger, allowing for more properties and items, than Covenant of the Phoenix and Mekong has an excellent initial setup (even if some of the path misalignment makes me feel OCD). Organizing properties and pulling more deco out of the public space and pushing it to the private space could help beautify the settlement and space out the public deco and lighting more. Building up our crafters and stocking our vendors to provide inexpensive quality goods when browsing and offering commissioned works on request would provide very strong incentive for folks to come to our town if we advertise it properly.

More combat oriented goals could be to provide something more akin to PvE mercenary services, helping folks explore, defeat bosses, and achieve goals. Or offering PvP zone escorts to players wanting to check out open PvP areas at reduced risk of being attacked.

I kind of want to avoid the... "We're a friendly social group that largely does our own things but sometimes parties up together." It does offer a lot of freedom for everyone to just play as they as want, but it also is basically the premise of the majority of guilds I come across in games. A lot of guilds go that more open path because it feels more inclusive and allows for quicker growth, but the quality of the experience just feels lacking to me.

However, the above aspects are purely my opinion. Do not feel afraid to express desires for exactly the opposite of what I have said. If you dig through my history in PFO you will see that I am rather democratically oriented when serving as a chapter lead, even when preferences may not align with my own.

Now, donning my Officer Hat, I will quote the Charter.

I. The Beginning

The Rising Sun, touching this land with fearless light for the first time, met with the Soul of the Covenant long before there was a Covenant, in the sands of a distant desert on the night where few stars shown their true light. Those stars that did show their true light were six and not one more. The Sun and the Soul were soon joined by the Ancient Principle as their travels through the desert took them far. These three walked together for many years, until three more walked with them. True Loyalty, Pure Intensity and Ultimate Strength, long before each was forced into revealing their true names, were now amongst the brethren. Again, and still, the six walk this desert, built up, burned down, and reborn as one under the Covenant of the Phoenix. There are a few heroes, a very few knights in shining armor, who light the land like a torch against the darkness. Their creed is honor and service; they face the world not with hot, greedy hands but with the warm hand of friendship. Be one of the few.

II. Le Motif - The goal

The Covenant is best described as a common spirit of camaraderie, enthusiasm, and devotion to a cause among the members of the Covenant. We are gathered here to continue a quest to fulfill our gaming goals in a family friendly environment catering to gamers of all styles, all genres and with every sort of gaming schedule imaginable. It is a guild environment that asks its leadership to inspire our membership, rather than require anything of them. One that chooses to promote through ability and merit, rather than statistics and elitism....and makes clear it's standard that we are not a gaggle of gamers who happen to be under one tag, but a family of friends who enjoy gaming under a banner of chivalry superseded only by the spirit by which emanates from and is forever guarded by it's membership.

Whatever recruitment method we take should be strongly rooted in this. At a glance, it really does support a guild aligned to the Virtue system in Shroud. However, we need not make that a core tenant if folks really want to do anti-virtue. But even then we'd still expect membership to act largely in honorable fashion.

As for Structure: I think I would prefer a simple membership and officer structure that mirrors that of the Covenant. And to that end I will likely be approaching some folks to make some things more official once I locate some of the resources I have lost track of given the navigation changes to the site. I'll work on getting that all located and set up this week.

Thank you so much for this response Life. I’m encouraged to see such a passion for developing a purpose/lore. I’m personally very open to allowing you and the other officers to make changes and help shape Findupre both in story/lore and in actual structure ( I have vision but sometimes lack the patience for the detail of town building :) ) My guess is a lot of the guilds lore being akin to the virtues stems from its inception being in UO. You have my sword, my home, and my honor. Just lead the way.

I was wondering if one aspect might be that every so often hunt a boss mob then take the head or other trophy piecce that drops off the head and we present it to the "true avatar" that lies inside the crypt. This would bring us a group through dangerous territory and establish a tie to our history. I'm sure more could be added at some point but I was thinking this might give us an honorable tradition. For the guild.

That is a cool idea, Spry. And rather than a pure guild event, we can have it be a guild-hosted public event and open it to the community as a way to foster recognition and notoriety for CotP. That would in turn also help with recruiting.

I would like to keep a book of membership with in game dates, promotion dates, (exit dates hopefully not many of these) and potential have retain a chronicle of guild accomplishments

I like the book idea ^ and Life's viewpoint also.

My toon is evolving as most probably are also. The journey is maybe worthy of blogging in a lore fashion. Maybe this could be kept on display in the guild hall a little shrine to each member with trophys :) along the lines that Mekong is talking about.

Maybe the RPG element needs pushing along a little? It's sooo easy to fall into the 'go farm' mode.

Is it worth having an informal time for  guild meets/events just so we all have something to aim for in our busy lives? I like the game. I love playing the game with like minded people more! Get's so boring when no one is on :(

Are books able to be left editable? Last attempt I made seemed to have finalized the book and I couldn't change it anymore.

They are not editable at this time. My suggestion would be volume numbers.

Ex: The Chronicles of Harmon Gestel Vol I

etc

I am supportive of the suggestions offered by Lifedragn and Spry.  I was speaking with Mekong the other day in Discord, that I think we are at the stage of game development that having an in game officer or members at large  meeting soon might be a good thing.
