Wolcen - Full Release!

Wolcen: Lords of Mayhem is going into full release on Feb 13th, 2020!  I've been following this ARPG since it was first Kickstarted way back in 2015.  I've played it once or twice throughout the development process... Some Alpha, some Beta.  Overall it has come along very nicely, and I have high hopes for the future of this game.  This game has been discussed as once of the top games that will be pit against Diablo IV for the next generation of ARPG's on the market.  I know Cecil and I will be playing for sure.  Come join us in-game and on Discord!

Smite - Free To Play.

Smite is a 3D fantasy MOBA where players take on the role of mythological gods and battle in team-based arenas. Unlike other MOBAs, SMITE puts you directly onto the battlefield with a third-person action viewpoint. From blind-side ambushes to aimed shots, a new pantheon of strategic possibilities awaits.  Become a legend of myth, enter the Battleground of the Gods, and play FREE now!

Game Modes:
Conquest – the main 5v5 game mode. Features three lanes and a jungle area filled with neutral monsters. Arena – a 5v5 game mode with an open battle area rather than lanes. Each team begins with 500 points and must reduce the other side's to zero by killing heroes, minions, and escorting allied minions to portals. Joust – a 3v3 game mode with a single lane which otherwise plays like Conquest mode. Joust can also be played 1v1. Assault – similar to ARAM (All Random, All Mid) in LoL, players are assigned a random God and fight on a map with a single lane. Siege – a faster version of Conquest. Siege mode consists of only two lanes and contains a special Siege Juggernaut minion that deals extra damage to structures.
Never played a battle arena before? Don’t worry. Auto-buy, auto-level, and the deathmatch-like Arena mode let you jump right into divine MOBA action. Aspiring pro? Top the ladders, join a competitive team, and you too could be playing at the SMITE World Championship.

ArcheAge Unlimited - Quick Start Guide!

Recommended Posts

A YouTube streamer named "Kanon" has put together some really solid guides for launch week in ArcheAge Unchained.  I would highly recommend you check these out (videos below).

However, here is the "TLDR" if you don't want to watch the first video:

  • Only do the green quests from level 1-30, skip the yellows. This will fast-track you to level 30. After you reach Hasla, start doing both yellow and green quests to make sure you are ready to progress from zone to zone.
  • The only exception to the above plan are the two quests (faction specific) that give you your first mount and your glider. You will get these quests well before level 15, and they will be near the main questline.
  • While playing the game you will occasionally get "Coinpurses" and "Crates" that require labor to open them.  Using your labor to open the chests is always worth it, as it will give you exp potions that will speed up your advancement.  The coinpurses are not always worth it.
  • If you are rushing to level 50, turn in quests as soon as you can "under-archieve" them. The big exp bonus for turning it in remains the same if you do it at the goal or under-achieve it.
  • At level 15, you can buy your Combat Pet for 15s at Jaun's Ranch in Villanelle. You otherwise get it for free as a quest at level 30.
  • The gear you get from your main questline will level with you until endgame. Do not throw it out! You will get upgrade items for it along the way that will advance it to the next tier. Eventually this gear will become part of your "Hiram Gear" at level 50+.
  • The "experimental glider" you start with can be upgraded as well, around level 20. That can be done in Mirage Isle. Buy the Improved and Enhanced upgrade items to get to the Ultimate Glider. It will cost 30 Gilda.  NOTE: It may not be worth upgrading your glider if you are trying to do the Land Rush.  For Land Rush, you will want every Gilda you can possibly get.
  • Don't worry about leveling up additional skill pools when you start the game. When you hit level 15, you will be level 15 in all skill pools.  When you pick your 3rd skill pool, it will automatically start at the same level as your first skill pool.
  • At level 30, you need to do the Blue Salt quests.  The quest giver will have a green plan icon above their heads.  Those lead to your free 8x8 farm design, your trading mount (donkey), and eventually a 16x16 farm design. It is recommended that you do NOT do the "build a farm cart" quest step, as that will take a long time to do. Come back to that after the land rush.
  • Around level 30, follow the questlines to Halcyona. For us on the East, we will use a portal in Ynystere to get there. This isn't really a detour as that is where your main questline will lead.  I am mentioning it more to give you an idea for when you will be leaving the East continent for the first time.
  • Once you hit lvl 44, you can head to Diamond Shores, and start farming for your endgame Hiram gear. Beyond that, just follow the quest chains in each new zone.
  • The 24x24 house plot costs 200 Gilda Stars. There is a better one for 300 Gilda, but that will be hard to get during the first week of launch. Ideally you want to aim for a 16x16 and a 24x24 before Saturday's Land Rush.
  • Instead of using your 8x8 farm, you can keep it, as you will eventually be able to upgrade it to a 16x16. It is called the "Improved Scarecrow Farm Design".  However, you may not want to do that if you are participating in the Land Rush.  The reason for this is because placing / building the 8x8 will allow you to craft tax certs there, so you don't have to go somewhere else to craft them for your 16x16 or 24x24.

A few thoughts: since labor is continuously regenerating, open those coin purses whenever you are close to capping labor else you will be wasting the labor.  Also, I overachieve quests just because i'm an overachiever and the game told me i'd get extra xp if I overachieve quests.

Also, I have no plans on rushing to level 50.

You might want to test that extra xp from over achieving.  I saw a couple content creators state that you get extra coin instead of xp now.

As a lover of coin, this sounds like a win win.

I may buy this as soon as it pops up on Steam.  Been a while since I did the MMO thing.  Will be nice to be around friends again.
